The book Expedition, which Barlowe both wrote and illustrated, is a work on the hypothetical evolution of various species of life on the fictional planet of Darwin IV. This book formed the basis for the Discovery Channel special Alien Planet, narrated by John C. McGinley, which Barlowe also executive produced.
