The mushroom like electrophyte
The mushroom-like Electrophyte is one of the several creature-plants found on Darwin IV such as the Butchertree. They tend to live in colonies and emit electrical currents to capture animals.
Electricity[]
One of the most striking features of the electrophyte is its ability to shoot electrical currents at animals that stray too close, hence its name. When an animal wanders between two or more electrophytes it bridges the gap between two electrical charges causing it to produce an electrical current killing the trespasser. It is unknown whether the electricity is also used for defense or only capturing prey. Arrowtongues have been known to sometimes take shelter amongst these lifeforms, mainly while hunting, though it is unknown if arrowtongues are also prey to the electrophyte.
